The 2007 Christmas Card

2007 Christmas Card

Historical Information
The historic Briles home at 1103 North Main Street is one of the treasures in High Point. When built in 1907 by Lee and Bertie Wallace Briles, it was considered to be "out in the country." According to High Point historian Mary Lib Joyce the Briles house was a very gracious home where guests were invited to visit at four o'clock when tea was served from a lovely cart. This tradition continued with their daughter Ruth until her death in 2002. The Junior League of High Point purchased the home in November of 2002 and have preserved the history of the home and restored it to it's original beauty. The Junior League chose to memorialize Mazie Froelich and have named the home "The Mary Strickland Froelich Junior League of High Point,Inc. Headquarters – The Briles House."

His presence is silent, though bountiful and clear,

Historical Information
The Charles E. Hayworth Sr. Memorial Chapel is one of the most recognizable buildings on the campus of High Point University. The Chapel was built in 1972 by Charles E. Hayworth Jr. as a tribute to his father. A fire destroyed two rooms in the Chapel in 1986 and caused heavy damage in the sanctuary. Another son, David R. Hayworth also has contributed to the legacy of the Chapel. In 1999, the new vestibule with its 22 foot ceiling, Palladian window, Georgian porch and the signature 95 foot steeple was added. The Hayworth family's gifted vision for the future has made the Hayworth Chapel a distinguished memorial landmark for both High Point University and the city of High Point.

2005 Christmas Card

Historical Information
Mary Bogest has created another beautiful painting for this year's Christmas Card. This card is of the Hoggatt House on the property of the High Point Museum. Phillip and Mary Hoggatt built this house in 1754, four miles southwest of its current location. The Hoggatts were among the first Quakers to move to this area. In 1973, the cabin was donated by Mrs. Betty Jo Kellam, and was relocated and restored at its current site at the High Point Museum. In December of 2004, this historic structure was damaged by fire caused by lightening. The museum is in the process of repairing the damage.
